Steps for registering with our Government e-Marketplace

  • Visit the relevant page on our online platform to create your User ID and password. 
  • Once you do that, you need to come up with your profile. 
  • You can make use of our tax assessment services that can help you seamlessly manage tax compliance requirements 
  • You can carry out brand approval tasks using our GeM platform. Generating invoices can become simple by using our Government e-Marketplace. Updating stocks will be hassle-free. Other tasks you can carry out with our Government e-Marketplace platform include bid submission and getting information about the ongoing bids. 
  • You can also upload the catalog document for the products and services you have to offer.   

List of Document Required for GeM Registration

 To register on the GeM portal, you need the following documents:

  • GST registration: Proof of GST registration is required for all suppliers  
  • PAN card: PAN card of the business or individual  
  • Address proof: Utility bills, lease agreements, or other official documents proving the address of the business  
  • Bank account details: Cancelled cheque or bank statement for verifying bank account details  
  • Aadhaar card: Aadhaar card of the authorized signatory  
  • Income tax returns: Income tax returns for the last three years  
  • Certificate of incorporation: Certificate of incorporation if the business is a company  
  • MSME certificate: MSME certificate if available  
  • Letter stating business description: Letter stating the business description

If you are registering as a Start-Up, in addition to the above-mentioned required information, the following will also be needed: -

-  DIPP Number

- Mobile Number linked with DIPP 


If you are registering as an MSE, in addition to the above-mentioned required information, the following will also be needed: 

- UAM Number (Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum Number) 

- Mobile Number linked with UAM 

  • Registration on GeM should be done only by an Authorized Person (Director of the Organization or a Key Person/Proprietor)
  • Details of the Authorized Person will get validated as per the Income Tax Return Filing Primary Seller has an option to create Secondary Seller(s) to assign roles like Bid Participation, Creation of Catalogue, Purchase Requisition, and Order Fulfilment.
  • The Secondary Seller should register using the same method (Aadhaar or Personal Pan) as the primary seller.

Answer: GeM stands for Government eMarketplace, where buyers are all government departments. 


Answer:  This caution money provision is being introduced for bringing discipline among sellers. All Sellers on GeM would be required to deposit a fixed amount with GeM as Caution Money deposit. 


Answer:   During registration on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, the Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the business entity or organization registering on the platform is required. Here's how it works depending on the type of registrant:


 1. For Sole Proprietorship

  • The individual's PAN (since the individual and the business are the same legal entity).

2. For Partnership Firms

  • The PAN of the partnership firm (not of individual partners). 

3. For Private/Public Limited Companies or LLPs

  • The PAN of the company or LLP, as registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). 

4. For Government Entities or PSUs

  • The PAN of the department or PSU, if applicable. 

Important Notes:

  • PAN is validated against the name and details through the Income Tax Department’s database, so it must match official records. 
  • In case of using Aadhaar-based registration (for proprietorship), Aadhaar must be linked to the PAN.


Original Equipment Manufacturer are termes as OEM in GeM Portal. These OEMs are basically divided into four categories under GeM:

  • 1.Manufacturer
  • 2.Brand Owner & Third Party Manufacturer
  • 3.Imported Products & Authorized Sellers in India
  • 4.Service Provider


No, Aadhaar is no longer mandatory for Seller Registration. Sellers now also have an option to use Personal PAN for Identity Verification. r to this item.


Only Primary seller can change registered email id. Seller can navigate to – My Account -> Account Settings -> Change Email option to update new email Id. Secondary sellers cannot update registered email Id. 


 ITR details are optional on GeM and required only for sellers who wanted to participate in BID. 1. Organizations whose Date of Incorporation is less than 2 years can be exempted from uploading ITR on GeM Portal during registration. 2. Organizations belonging to the states or regions specified in Section 10(26) of the Income Tax Act have the option to self-declare their turnover. However, self-declared turnover is not considered a verified turnover on the seller's profile. 


 During registration on GeM, there is an option available for you to select your organisation as a startup. Then you need to provide DIPP number and the mobile number linked with the DIPP number. 


 The major benefits are:
(i) Relaxation of prior experience and prior turnover.
(ii) Exemption from submitting “Earnest Money Deposit [EMD] 


Yes, you can add multiple bank accounts provided one is a primary bank account and the others are secondary bank accounts. 


Yes, you can offer products/services on GeM if you are both a reseller and an OEM. However, while uploading your product, you must select whether you are an OEM or a reseller for that particular product. 


No, GSTIN is not mandatory for registering on GeM 


The Seller/ Service Provider can raise a ticket with the below details
• Old UDYAM certificate,
• New UDYAM certificate,
• Screenshot of the profile page where OLD UDYAM is updated
• Concern on company’s letter head (Signed & stamped)
• User ID 


e-Invoicing or electronic invoicing is a system introduced under GST. Applicable taxpayers must report B2B invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) and get it verified by the GSTN. In return, they receive a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN) and signed QR code. Under e invoice declaration the seller can declare whether they are excluded from e-invoicing as per GST laws and declare their turnover details. (Signed & stamped)
